Biscuit History
In the 16th century,a sailboat from Britain was sailing into the Bay of Biscay of France.
All of a sudden, the sea whipped up a big storm.
The crew drifted to a deserted island, fueled with fear of starvation.
Powders on the sailboat were soaking wet and hard to swallow.
The crew mixed powder, sugar and butter together and stirred evenly, turning them into small round cookies.
These small round cookies were so dry and crisp that the crew named them "Biscay cookies."
